How To Customize Blogger Scrollbar and Text Selection Color

Ever thought about if you could customize the text selection color and browser scrollbar color/width on your blogger blog? You can see the live examples on our blog itself. We have changed its text selection color and scrollbar's color & width too. Isn't it nice? :) Follow this simple step by step tutorial and do the same on your blog. Make your blog look more professional, eye catchy, user friendly and of course, colorful too.

Customization of Scrollbar
Default color of scroll bar in every browser is grey which can be customized thoroughly. We can customize our blogger's default scroll-bar by customizing its width, height, scrollbar track color, thumb color, thumb hover color and thumb color when scroll-bar is active. To do so, all we need to do is add these styles to our blogger template's CSS style-sheet. Without further delay, let us do the job.

Step 1) Login to your blogger account >> go to Template >> Edit HTML.
Step 2) Click anywhere inside the template code box then press Ctrl+F on windows and Cmd+F on mac.
Step 3) Find out this little piece of code line </b:skin> and just before that, paste the whole CSS code given below. You can customize its color codes as you wish.
/*--------- Scrollbar Customization by TwistBlogger--------- */
::-webkit-scrollbar {
width:8px;
height:8px;
}
::-webkit-scrollbar-track {
background:#FFF; /*------This is background color of scrollbar track ------*/
-webkit-box-shadow:inset 1px 1px 2px #E0E0E0;
border:1px solid #D8D8D8;
}
::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb {
background:#c0392b; /*------Thumb color ------*/
-webkit-box-shadow:inset 1px 1px 2px rgba(155,155,155,0.4);
}
::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb:hover {
-webkit-box-shadow:inset 1px 1px 10px rgba(0,0,0,0.4); /*------Shadow on hover------*/
}
::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb:active {
background:#333; /*------Thumb color when it is active------*/
-webkit-box-shadow:inset 1px 1px 2px rgba(0,0,0,0.4);
}

Step 4) Hit save button :). In the above CSS code, I have added proper comments to change the color codes to make it easy for every one. If you have further questions, follow the comment route, am eagerly waiting to help you do the job :).

Note: Please do share your blog URL in comments and I'll personally visit every one's blog to check which colors you have chosen. I'll leave a comment too. Fair enough? huh?
Customization of Text Selection Color
By text selection color, what do I mean is whenever someone selects the text with mouse on your blog post then by default its color. Got it? Default background color is always blue and text color is white. Ready to add some more colors to your blog on this HOLI season?

Step 1) Just repeat the previous steps first and find out this </b:skin> code again.
Step 2) As always, paste the code given below after changing the color codes to match with your blog's theme and hit save button.
/*--------- Text selection Customization by BLOGGERDROIDSEO ------------- */
::selection {
background:#e67e22; /*------This is the background color on selection-----*/
color:#fff; /*------This is text color on selection-----*/
}
::-moz-selection {
background:#e67e22;
color:#fff
}
::-webkit-selection {
background:#e67e22;
color:#fff
}
Final Step: Do not forget to visit your blog after adding these styles. How can you forget? Right? lol

There is it. These things are of little importance compared to your blog content so do not waste your time on the things like adding every other widget to your blog. Bear with your great content and serve your audience with your best of best. Always give them royal treatment because? They deserve it same as you do. :)

PP: Did you face any problem with your blog template while adding these styles? Just ask me in comments and I'll join you there soon. Now do share, subscribe and like our page buddy, you can do it. :)

How to Disable Copy Function On Blogger With CSS or JavaScript

Most of the genuine bloggers on BlogSpot platform face the problem of their blogs' content being copied or duplicated by newbies who are just entering in the blogosphere with the goal of making money without making real efforts and understanding the value of original/unique content. Sometimes the content copied by them gets higher rankings in search engines than your original content and this is unfair which lowers the motivation of genuine bloggers. So it is important to protect your blog content from these content thieves and this is the agenda of this post. We will disable the copy function by disabling the mouse right click and CTRL+A. We have two options for doing this i.e., via a JavaScript Code if you want to disable whole text area of blog or via CSS code if you share some codes/text on your blog posts and your readers need to copy them.

Disable Text Selection On Blogger With JavaScript Code
Go to Blogger→Template→Edit Template→Backup Your Template Code First.
Now search for
and copy paste the JavaScript Code given below after
tag.
(Note: - use Ctrl+F in Windows and Cmd+F in Mac to search for code in template)

Now save your template and view your blog to check the results.
Disable Text Selection Except Specified Codes/Text With CSS

This is the magic code we are using on this blog because we are sharing tutorials where readers need to copy some codes we share like CSS/JavaScript/Html etc. So on the same time we do not let readers copy our posts' text area other than codes/Text we want to share. This is possible with this simple CSS code where we enabled the copy paste of text/code we post in "blockquotes" only. Go to Blogger→Template→Edit Template→Backup.
Now search for </b:skin> this code line and copy paste the CSS code given below before this </b:skin> code line.
(Note:- use Ctrl+F in Windows and Cmd+F in Mac to search in template code)

/*----- Disable Text Selection with CSS Code--- TB----*/
.post blockquote {
-webkit-user-select: text !important;
-moz-user-select: text !important;
-ms-user-select: text !important;
user-select: text !important;
}
body {
-webkit-user-select: none !important;
-moz-user-select: -moz-none !important;
-ms-user-select: none !important;
user-select: none !important;
}

Important Note:- In the above CSS code we have enabled the copy/selection of text/code we post using blockquotes by enabling .post blockquote but it may not work for you if your template is using different CSS class for blockquote for e.g., Our template using .post blockquote where your template may be using .post-body blockquote or blockquote. So in that case you need to replace .post blockquote with .post-body blockquote or blockquote in above CSS code. If you do not share any codes or content than just copy paste this little piece of CSS code to disable all text area on your blog.

/*----- Disable Text Selection with CSS Code--- TB----*/
body {
-webkit-user-select: none !important;
-moz-user-select: -moz-none !important;
-ms-user-select: none !important;
user-select: none !important;
}

Note: You can add CSS codes by simply going to Template Designer >> Add custom CSS and paste your code then save.
Benefit of using CSS Code rather than JavaScript ?
1) When we use JavaScript code, do you know what does a copy cat do? Simply disables JavaScript code inside browser and reload the page. Then everything goes into normal and anyone can copy the whole content.

Using CSS code we eliminate this factor as user usually can not disable the CSS. However, an experienced user can do it simply by inspecting elements and finding our CSS code snippet then delete it in browser but this task is far away from newbies. Experienced users rarely do that.

2) CSS codes are far better than JavaScripts as they do not lower the speed of your blog/website where JavaScript codes consume much time to load and make your blog load speed very low and overall you lose Visitors=Money. Avoid using JavaScripts.

Let us know where these codes worked for you or you are having problems with these codes? We will serve you our best. Thank You.

Best WordPress Podcast Plugins – 2 Best Podcasting Plugins Compared

Did you know that in America alone, 67 million people listen to podcasts on a monthly basis? Would you also believe when I say this number was half of what it is now in 2013? Clearly, it is a spectacular growth in terms of user base. Additionally, podcastadvertising revenues grew by as much as 70% each year between 2015 and 2017.

With those numbers, it would be safe to say that podcasting is a massive growth industry right now in terms of both audience and revenue.
But if you’re thinking of creating a podcast, you will need a website to help promote it. As is usually the case, WordPress is a great option to make a podcast website – but you’re going to need the right WordPress podcast plugin for a list of things, like:

 • Publishing your podcast feeds
 • Creating a user friendly player
 • Viewing the download statistics
To help you out, I have looked into some of the best WordPress podcast plugins in this post.

Best WordPress Podcast Plugins For 2018

1. Blubrry PowerPress

Blubrry PowerPress
Blubrry PowerPress is the most popular WordPress podcast plugin available at WordPress.org. Beyond raw popularity, it also has great reviews – it has maintained a 5-star rating over 130 reviews.
Blubrry PowerPress is packed with lots of helpful functionality, but here are some of the most important features:
 • Automatically imports podcast feed from SoundCloud, LibSyn, PodBean, Squarespace or other services
 • Creates iTunes compliant podcast feeds
 • Subscribes page shortcode to help you get more subscribers
 • Has built-in social share buttons
 • Has built-in “show notes” link to provide listeners with more information
 • Visitors can change playback speed or skip forward/backward
Best of all, the Blubrry PowerPress plugin is free. Blubrry makes its money by selling access to advanced statistics and/or dedicated podcast hosting. Both subscriptions are helpful, but not required to use the plugin.
If you want to see Blubrry PowerPress in action, you can check out the popular WordPress podcast, Matt Report.
3. Smart podcast player
If you’re a blogger, you’ve probably heard about Pat Flynn’s Smart Passive Income website, as well as its associated podcast.

Smart Podcast Player is Pat’s own creation that he uses to manage the actual Smart Passive Income podcast. And, if you’re willing to pay, you can get it for your own podcast.

Here are some things that are unique about Smart Podcast Player:

 • It includes an email capture feature built into the player
 • Visitors can skip forward or backward by chunks just like on most smartphone podcast players
 • Visitors can also change the speed of your podcast
 • You can display unlimited podcast episodes, including pagination and search
 • It includes built-in social sharing buttons to help boost your social shares
 • The player follows responsive design principles and looks great on mobile devices
Additionally, Smart Podcast Player has the best out-of-the-box design of any option on this list.

The only potential downside of Smart Podcast Player is that it uses SaaS-style monthly billing. That means you’ll need to pay to continue to use the plugin.

Smart Podcast Player costs $96 per year or $12 per month.

3. Seriously Simple Podcasting

Fix JETPACK plugin connection error

Having trouble connecting Jetpack to WordPress.com? If so, here are eight key steps that can potentially help you solve the problem.

Run the Jetpack Debug Tool

The Jetpack debugging tool will identify any errors in the connection.
The most common errors, as well as what they mean, are listed on ourError Messages page.

Check xmlrpc.php

Jetpack needs this file to connect to WordPress.com. You have to make two checks here (and both of those should work).
Check yoursite/xmlrpc.php – This page should return the following message:
XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.
The message should look exactly the same (without any spaces or line breaks). Please feel free to compare to this example of a working xmlrpc.php file.
If you passed that that, enter your site’s URL at the WordPress XML-RPC Validation Service (leave all of the defaults as-is there, and don’t provide any usernames or passwords if prompted). If you see “Congratulation! Your site passed the first check,” you’re done and have passed the second test as far as we’re concerned.
If something is off with yourxmlrpc.php in either of the two tests, please contact your hosting provider’s support for assistance.

Reinstall and Reconnect Jetpack

Sometimes turning things off and on actually helps! So try this out:
 1. Go to Jetpack > Dashboard.
 2. Scroll down to Connectionsand disconnect Jetpack.
 3. Go to Plugins and deactivate, then delete the Jetpack plugin.
 4. Now go to Plugins > Add newand search for Jetpack.
 5. Install it, activate it, and attempt to connect again.
 6. If the connection doesn’t work, try other options on this page.

Look for Plugin Conflicts

Sometimes other plugins create a conflict with Jetpack that blocks it from connecting to WordPress.com. To eliminate the possibility of a plugin conflict, deactivate all other plugins and reinstall Jetpack following the instructions above.

Check for Theme Issues

If you’re using a theme which is not well-coded, then the theme could be creating issues with Jetpack’s connection.
Switch to one of the default WordPress themes (like Twenty Seventeen) and see if the connection issues are resolved. If not, try other options on this page.

Test Your Site Speed

Your site must load within the first 5-10 seconds for the Jetpack connection to work correctly.
You can check your site’s speed and overall performance with a variety of tools like WebPagetest.

Check Your SSL Certificate

If you’re using an SSL Certificate for your site, you should check its grade at SSL Labs.
It should be A or A+, and you shouldn’t see any errors here. The most common error here is that thecertificate is self-signed.
If you’re seeing any errors in the SSL test, you should report this directly to your host as they’re the only ones who can fix these issues.
Other than the SSL test, please ensure both ‘SITE_URL’ and ‘HOME_URL’ under Dashboard -> Settings -> General are usingHTTPS.

Other WordPress Issues

If you delete Jetpack from your site and you still continue to see errors or problems on your site, then those errors are mostly related to your site’s WordPress installation or any other plugins that you might have installed.
In this case (when you’re sure that the issue is not related to Jetpack), you should reach out to the WordPress.org support forums.

If none of the above works, or if you have any other questions related to Jetpack, please feel free to contact support for a helping hand.

HOW TO CONNECT YOUR WORDPRESS BLOG TO JETPACK PLUGIN

Requirements

 1. A WordPress.com account(sign up)
 2. The latest version ofWordPress
 3. Your site must be publicly available (no authentication required, maintenance mode off)
 4. XML-RPC enabled and publicly accessible
Installation
 1. Log in to your site’s Dashboard (e.g.http://www.yourgroovydomain.com/wp-admin)
 2. In the left panel, click “Plugins”, then click “Add New”.
 3. Search for “Jetpack” — the latest version will appear at the top of the list of results.
 4. Click the “Install Now” button.
 5. Wait for the installation to finish, then click the “Activate” button.
 6. Click the “Connect to WordPress.com” button. Login with your WordPress.com account or create an account.
 7. Login with your WordPress.com account (or create one) and click “Authorize Jetpack”
 8. Click the “Approve” button and wait for the connection process to finish.
 9. Select your plan. You will be returned to your site’s Dashboard and see the message “Your Jetpack site is ready to go!”
 10. Click “Activate recommended features” (optional)
Notes
 • If you don’t see a Plugins menu in your dashboard, then your site is likely on WordPress.com and you don’t need Jetpack – its features are already built in.
 • If you are using a Multisite installation, Jetpack must be connected individually for each site in the network. Any administrator can connect the site.
Troubleshooting
 • Jetpack relies on a solid connection with your site for features such as Stats and Publicize to work. If you are experiencing issues, first verify that Jetpack is connected using the Jetpack debugger. You will know your site is correctly connected when the Jetpack debugger shows “Everything looks great!”
 • Plugin conflicts can be a cause of issues. To check this, temporarily disable all plugins but Jetpack. If the issue disappears, enable one plugin at a time until the issue reappears. This will help you identify which plugin Jetpack is having trouble with. Ensure that your plugins are up to date.
 • If you see a display issue, try temporarily switching to a default WordPress theme such as Twenty Seventeen. If the issue goes away, it is likely a problem with the theme. You can get in touch with the theme’s author for further help. Be sure to let them know the troubleshooting steps that you have tried.I.

Editorial RevenueHits Review

AdSense has its place, but many publishers prefer an alternative. Founded in 2008, RevenueHits has grown steadily and strongly. Today, many publishers consider RevenueHits the most legitimate rival to Google AdSense, and the best way to increase their overall monthly earnings.
In order to understand what we like about RevenueHits, let’s first take a look at what we dislike about Google AdSense.
First, publishers can be banned from AdSense. Even reputable publishers can find their accounts incorrectly banned by Google. This can be a time-consuming hassle to undo. An account on RevenueHits is approved immediately. Their terms of service are very clear, too, which means you should never be banned out-of-the-blue.
As stated on their site, RevenueHits wants to run a “decent, respectable business.” They don’t want you to place any unapproved Network Tags. They also prohibit a variety of underhanded tactics such as misleading links, automatic redirection, unsolicited emails, forced clicks and the like. These are tactics you’re likely avoiding on purpose already. So these restrictions in both content and SEO techniques shouldn’t be an issue for the vast majority of publishers who want to use RevenueHits.
There are other issues with AdSense, however. Publishers make good money from AdSense, however… Once you do earn money, transferring it into your account is often a hassle. RevenueHits gives you a greater percentage of the profits. Plus, transferring money is much easier. You can withdraw once your account has a balance of $20. This is compared to the $100 limit for an AdSense account. Also, RevenueHits supports PayPal while AdSense does not.
Plus, let’s face it: AdSense is getting old. People recognise AdSense ads and banners. People avoid ads almost unconsciously these days. In order to reach your audience, your ads are going to have to appear exciting, interesting and new.
This is where RevenueHits excels. There are more ad options available including pop ups, pop unders, banners, sliders, footers, site-under ads, interstitial and more. The more ad options which are available, the better the target audience can be reached and engaged with.

Even better, the ads are designed to engage with your audience specifically. AdSense doesn’t always show ads which are interesting to your website visitors. RevenueHits attempts to improve upon this with their Geo Targeted ad network. The ads will display according to culture, geography, interest and other key factors. No more banner ads for products from a different country which has no connection to your visitors!
The Cost Per Acquisition-based advertising network displays ads based on your blog traffic. This is better than basing them on the needs of the advertisers. The goal of RevenueHits isn’t always to generate the most traffic, it’s to maximize the income you receive from the traffic you already generate.
Opening a RevenueHits account is easy. Signing up as a publisher is free. After clicking on the “Sign Up as Publisher” button, you’ll be asked to input some information. You’ll need to enter your site or app name. This includes the URL and a description. They give you a fair amount of room, so don’t be afraid to go into detail about your site. This will help RevenueHits find the most relevant ads possible.
You’ll then enter Partner information. You’ll need to know the username, password and some other details. Finally, you’ll set your billing preferences. Your options for RevenueHits are PayPal, wire transfer and Payoneer. Then you’ll accept some terms and conditions. That’s it – you’ve created a RevenueHits account. You can get started right away.
Creating ads is intuitive. While we won’t guide you through every step here, rest assured if you can publish a blog you can probably handling navigating the RevenueHits menus. Of course, that’s not to dismiss the skills behind selecting and placing ads on your ads. The more you’re able to maximize your best performing banner ads, the more you can increase your revenue.
Money issues in general were handled very well by RevenueHits, including both revenue earned and the overall transfer of payments. Publisher earnings vary from a few cents up to $30 eCPM. This is effective Cost per Thousand Impressions. This is the total earnings divided by the total number of impressions, in thousands.
eCPM is one of the best performance metrics available. That’s why it’s the most common metric measured when comparing results across different advertising formats and types. By measuring eCPM, you can find the right path even if you have a small website with limited traffic changes. RevenueHits uses the eCPM model, which is why so many publishers have seen positive results.
As with any performance ad network, the exact earnings are based on many factors, some of which are entirely publisher dependent. Examples of such factors include site content, user behaviour, ad positioning and traffic geo.
But this should hardly be new news for publishers. If nobody wants to visit your site, you’re not going to bring in a lot of advertising revenue. This is a performance-based network. Revenue shares are paid out of publisher’s traffic sales. So there is no payment for clicks or impressions. For publishers who are already able to bring in a decent amount of traffic, however, RevenueHits will be able to provide maximum efficiency. Even better, your advertising revenue will grow along with your audience.
Payment can sometimes be an issue with performance ad networks, especially if country lines are being crossed. Fortunately, we’re happy to report that RevenueHits had no issues with payment during our repeated tests. RevenueHits pays in net 30 terms. This means you’ll have your money by the end of the next month at the latest.
They categorize the finances this way: “Earnings” are your revenues for the current monthly period. “Balance” is the accumulated money which will be paid in net 30 terms. RevenueHits absorbs bank fees on their end. Publishers are responsible for any bank or processing fees on their end. Transferring and tracking earnings is easily done through the RevenueHits dashboard.
The simplicity and clear design of the dashboard is both a plus and a bit of a minus. The positive is the system is easy to use for publishers. Once you’ve created an account, you should have no problem managing your account, setting up your ads and handling your revenue. On the other hand, this same design style doesn’t work as well on their website. Before you’ve created an account, learning more about RevenueHits from their website can be a bit challenging. We had to actually create an account before we could really understand how many of their processes work.
This is another small negative. The FAQ and help information isn’t very in-depth. While most publishers will find navigating RevenueHits to be fairly intuitive, the best way to solve problem is probably going to be contacting customer support. Their support staff is friendly and attentive, but some people would rather search a large database and find the answer themselves.
Once you are familiar with how RevenueHits works, there’s a lot of flexibility. One positive we really liked were the large number of vertical available. Other networks limit themselves to a few verticals such as entertainment or gambling. RevenueHits provides enough verticals so that publishers can find their niche, instead of trying to compete in an overcrowded area.
RevenueHits offers verticals in Dating, Mobile, Shopping, Blogging, Streaming, Coupons, Travel, Entertainment, Insurance, Casual Gaming, Software, and more. This ends up working well for both large and small publishers. RevenueHits has the capability to identify small markets and advertise to them effectively.
In the end, you do have to make a choice. The Terms and Conditions of AdSense won’t let you use RevenueHits at the same time. But AdSense can be disabled with one click. And RevenueHits is free to install. If you’re not happy with AdSense, we do recommend you try out RevenueHits. You’ll quickly be able to determine if you like what RevenueHits has to offer.
They do have quite a bit to offer. They’re an effective Performance Ad Network. Using contextual and geo-targeted Ad-serving technology, they can help publisher generate more revenue. Online assets can be monetized more effectively. This includes not only websites but add-ons, widgets, toolbars and, of course, mobile.
Founded by publishers, for publishers, RevenueHits understands your needs. On the downside, their static support page is rather small. Plus, their website is rather limited is regard to information. But signing up is free and their entire system is very intuitive.
Overall, RevenueHits is one of the few serious competitors to AdSense. If you’re a publisher looking for a new way to increase your revenue, maybe it’s time to put AdSense behind and give “the other” ad network a try. There’s a lot to recommend about Reve[nueHits.
